LEARNS After-school and Sports Program

Berkeley LEARNS middle school after-school program offers a safe and engaging environment for students in grades 6-8, operating every school day until 6:00 pm.

With a focus on academic support, including literacy, STEM, and the arts, as well as mindfulness practices, enrichment, and recreational opportunities. Students are encouraged to learn, grow, and connect with peers in a supportive and inclusive environment. With a commitment to supporting students through transitions, our programs create a sense of community where participants can thrive and contribute to a culture of learning, exploration, and excellence.

Middle School LEARNS offers a robust Sports Program, led by dedicated coaches and staff where teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal development are emphasized.

Sports

The Willard LEARNS Sports Program offers a variety of seasonal sports, giving students opportunities to develop teamwork, discipline, and self-motivation. Please note that tryout dates and season duration may vary depending on coaching availability and team needs.

Team Requirements

Student Athlete Contract

All participants must agree to our Student Athlete Contract, which outlines expectations for both students and families.

Health Forms

To participate in after-school sports, students must submit a completed Health Certification form with a physician’s stamp and signature, along with a BUSD Voluntary Sports Waiver. Forms can be turned in to the Willard Main Office.

LEARNS Registration

To participate in sports, students must be registered in the Willard LEARNS After School program. Selected students not already enrolled must complete registration.


Schedules

Sports start and end dates may vary. Medical forms MUST be turned in to participate. Willard LEARNS team rosters are formed based on tryouts, where coaches look for teamwork, positive attitude, focus, effort, skill, and self-motivation.
